Dr. Scott B. Sigmon has vast experience doing psychological and neuropsychological testing, with written reports, on individuals of all ages for varied purposes.
Assessments usually include components such as developmental and social history, relevant background factors, functional levels (IQ, personality traits, emotional adjustment, neuropsychological impairment if present), diagnosis, prognosis, and practical recommendations. Dr. Sigmon consults with parents and schools who often request student evaluations relative to Attention Deficits, Learning Disabilities, Asperger's Disorder, emotional issues, and recommendations about special education and related services. Neurologists many times refer patients for neuropsychological status reports. Attorneys seek assessment of clients relative to criminal proceedings, emotional factors involving personal injury, and psychological functioning related to medical malpractice, etc. Mental status assessments are also performed on individuals with disabilities relative to their ability to work when requested by the government and insurance companies.
Dr. Sigmon has worked as a school psychologist and special education administrator. He has also taught psychology, counseling, psychological testing, and special education at several
universities. Moreover, since being licensed for private practice in 1991, a great deal of work has been done with people who have been injured, as well as doing assessments for the Division of Disability
Determination Services of the NJ Department of Labor, for which he is an official mental health consultant. He is also the Director of an Approved Clinic by the Office of Special Education Programs of the NJ
Department of Education, being preapproved to do full or partial Child Study Team evaluations. Additionally, Dr. Sigmon has given depositions and testified in court regarding such matters as the ability to work,
psychological status relative to medical malpractice, and rape.
Finally, Dr. Scott Sigmon was an "enthusiastic" athlete and coach, who works with athletes seeking to improve the mental aspect of
their sport. He is also a member of the American and New Jersey Psychological Associations.
