In my practice I offer cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy to children, families, and adults in individual, group and couples? sessions. From a clinical standpoint, my orientation is cognitive-behavioral. When indicated, I may draw upon psychodynamic or family systems approaches. Issues dealing with everyday difficulties that create anxiety, stress, depression, or overall difficulties in adjustment comprise the majority of my practice. Common diagnoses found in my practice include: Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD); mood disorders including Depression and Bipolar Disorder; Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD); Asperger?s Syndrome; adjustment difficulties to such life challenges as divorce or learning differences; and anxiety disorders including Separation Anxiety, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Comprehensive evaluations are also available. A major component of my practice is the Social Skills group experience. The children who enroll in my groups present with a variety of social difficulties ranging from social isolation, low self esteem, teasing, shyness and passivity, to poor impulse control, aggression, and difficulty fitting in with peer group. The groups are structured to foster self esteem by encouraging self reflection and social awareness. Balancing team-building and a strong sense of cohesiveness, activities of each session will promote the internalization of specific behaviors which in turn supports generalization of the activities to each participant's daily socializing.
