Martin views psychology and particularly psychotherapy as a field that can and should benefit us all.  Rather than focusing on mental illness and pathology, he chooses to work with each individual to achieve their goals and facilitate their personal growth.     He has a professional interest in higher levels of human consciousness and development.  His doctoral dissertation dealt with how spiritual growth assists us in dealing with change.  He has served as Adjunct Professor at Chaminade University, the University of Hawaii, Manoa and Argosy University teaching courses related to psychotherapy at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Hawaii Psychological Association. Martin has lived in Hawaii since 1987. In 1988 he co-founded with his wife, Malia, the retail store Sedona, which is located in Ward Centre and is focused on Personal and Spiritual Growth.
