I have been a psychologist and psychoanalyst in private practice for more than 20 years in New York and Connecticut, helping people with a variety of life's problems which interfere with their ability to create
gratifying relationships. I work with individuals intensively and with highly distressed couples. In addition to my extensive experience dealing with relationships, I also work with people suffering from depression,
anxiety, stress, issues of low self-esteem, loss, abandonment, abuse, eating disorders, problems with anger control, sexual identity, feelings of panic, OCD, and the effects of growing up in a dysfunctional family.
I also frequently work with parenting issues, child and adult ADD, intergenerational family business problems and career conflicts. I am a graduate of a post-doctoral training program in psychotherapy and
psychoanalysis at NYU. This additonal training enables me to grasp the core emotional issues a person is struggling with more quickly and thereby provide meaningful, effective relief. My approach is collaborative
and respectful of a person's pace and readiness to change. I have been described as warm, compassionate, down-to-earth, and as an excellent listener, providing an environment where a person feels safe. I respond to
the need for feedback in a candid and professional manner. Please call me at 203.661.5009 or visit me at www.joycenathan.com
